Total Surface Area
Far infrared waves have a regenerative effect on the body when emitted in the vital range of 7-14 microns. According to Wein’s Law, infrared energy at a lower surface temperature peaks in this vital range. The design of a Solocarbon heater allows for most of the far infrared wavelength to be near 9.4 microns, which is the level at which the human body absorbs infrared energy.
Emissivity
Emissivity is the ability of an object to emit or absorb energy. A perfect black body has an emissivity of 1, emitting 100% of infrared energy. An object with an emissivity of 0.6 will absorb 60% and reflect 40% of the energy.For infrared therapy to be successful, sauna heaters must have a high emissivity level to deliver a high concentration of infrared waves.
Infrared Power
Infrared power is a measure of the concentration of energy (wattage density) and a prime indicator of heater quality. Heaters with higher wattage more effectively deliver infrared across the entire spectrum.Infrared heaters have different outputs based on their wattage density and placement in the sauna. Solocarbon heaters are designed to emit the optimal amount of far infrared and are located in optimal positions within the sauna.
